Experience the magic of the Peruvian Amazon during the rainy season, when the rivers expand and the jungle reveals hidden wonders. Our 4-Day / 3-Night “Maravilla Encantada” program takes you deep into the heart of the rainforest, combining wildlife encounters, cultural immersion, and unforgettable landscapes.

This adventure is unique because on Day 3 you will explore the mysterious Yanayacu blackwater river, accessible only during the rainy season. Known for its incredible biodiversity, Yanayacu is home to three-toed sloths, river otters, giant trees, and the elusive Hoatzin bird, as well as an abundance of fish that attract playful pink and gray river dolphins. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience only possible when the waters rise.

Each day brings a different perspective of the Amazon: navigate legendary rivers, visit wildlife rescue centers, taste traditional medicinal drinks, learn about healing plants, and share moments with Indigenous and local communities. At night, the jungle transforms into a world of myths, sounds, and stars, inviting you to connect with its mystical essence.

Balanced with fresh Amazonian meals and comfortable lodge accommodations, this journey offers both adventure and relaxation. By the end, you’ll carry not just memories, but a deeper connection to the living spirit of the Amazon.

What makes this program unique?

The highlight is the Yanayacu blackwater river excursion, only possible during the rainy season. It offers unique chances to spot rare wildlife like sloths, otters, Hoatzin birds, and pink dolphins.

Are the boat trips safe and comfortable?

Yes. We use modern motorboats equipped with life jackets for all passengers. The trips are safe and comfortable, with opportunities to relax and enjoy the spectacular river scenery. During excursions into smaller rivers or blackwater creeks, we use smaller wooden boats for a more intimate Amazon experience.

What should I bring?
  • Light, long-sleeved clothing (light colors)

  • Personal flashlight

  • Rain poncho

  • Rubber boots

  • Insect repellent

  • Sunglasses and sunscreen

  • Hat or cap

  • Personal items

  • Swimming Suit
When is the rainy season?

From December to July. During this time, rivers rise and make Yanayacu navigable. In the dry season, the river is too narrow for exploration.

Will I see pink river dolphins?

Although wildlife sightings can never be 100% guaranteed, the confluence of the Nanay and Amazon Rivers is one of the best places to spot both pink and gray river dolphins. Many travelers consider this moment — when the blackwater meets the milky-brown Amazon — one of the highlights of the journey.

What should I bring for the trip?

We recommend lightweight clothing, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, a reusable water bottle, and comfortable walking shoes. A rain poncho or light jacket is also useful, as showers are common in the Amazon. Don’t forget your camera and binoculars for wildlife viewing!

Is the Amazon Eco Lodge suitable for families or older travelers?

Yes. The lodge provides comfortable cabins with basic amenities and mosquito nets. The excursions are moderate and designed for all ages. Families with children, couples, and older travelers can all enjoy the program. If you have mobility concerns, let us know in advance so we can adapt activities accordingly.

Are vegetarian or special diets available?

Yes. The lodge can accommodate vegetarian and some special dietary requirements with advance notice. Meals are prepared with fresh local ingredients, offering a balance of Amazonian and Peruvian flavors.

Is there electricity or internet at the lodge?

The lodge offers limited solar-powered electricity, mainly for lighting and charging small devices. Internet and phone signal are generally unavailable, making this an excellent opportunity to disconnect and fully enjoy the natural environment.

When is the best time to visit the Amazon?

The Amazon can be visited year-round. The high-water season (December–May) allows canoe rides through flooded forests, while the low-water season (June–November) is best for hiking and wildlife spotting along riverbanks.

Do I need vaccinations to travel?

We recommend consulting your physician about vaccines for yellow fever and other travel-related precautions.
